Spring Reading Thing 2009 & Booking Through Thursday

1. Eldest by Christopher Paolini - DONE
2. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer - DONE
3. The Art of Prayer by Timothy Jones - Almost Finished
4. New Moon by Stephenie Meyer - DONE
5. Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer - Starting 5/21 and will probably finish this weekend.
6. Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

I wasn't planning on doing another update for the Spring Reading Thing 2009 but I just finished another book. I didn't know what all the hype was about Breaking Dawn when it came out so just like some other books I had picked up to read in the past I decided to see what all the buzz was about and to see if it was worth it. I am now completely loving these books! I can't seem to read them fast enough. I'll be starting the third book today and with it being a holiday weekend and not much planned I will probably be able to finish this one too and start on the fourth one. Looks like I'll have to add some more books to my list. I need to get some sort of list going for this summer too. What books have you read lately? Need some ideas as to what to read this summer.

Booking Through Thursday

This weeks question is: What book would you love to be able to read again for the first time?

For some reason I'm having a hard time coming up with just one book. I can think of a bunch of books that I would love to read again. There is so much excitement reading a book that you can't seem to put down and to be able to have that feeling all over again would be great! But I can't seem to pin-point it down to just one.

The series of books that came to my mind first was Harry Potter then the Little House series of books. Then my mind went to a single book that I read back in Jr. High School. It's called Eric by Doris Lund. It was an amazing book and now that I think of it I would love to read it again.

How about you? What book would you love to be able to read again for the first time?

I've never read the book, but I remember liking the movie made from "Eric" back in the '70s or '80s. Or maybe it was a TV show. Think I might take a look at the book, too.

The last book I read was Kaye Gibbons' "Ellen Foster," a very short novel that's definitely worth reading, if you like books about the American south.

Never knew that they made a movie/tv show from it. I'll have to research that.

I do love books about the American South! Thanks for recommending the book. I'm going to check it out!

Never heard of the book "Eric" but it sounds like it would be a good read or a good story to watch on tv.

I have the same comment for everyone who chosed Harry Potter, I only like few of them because I was so dissapointed with the last book

Never heard of Eric. Of course, when you were in jr. high, I was...never mind. I'll be nice! :)

The book I would love to read again (and to own) is Not Between Brothers. I don't remember the author, but it is a saga about a family in Texas during the time it was battling for independence from Mexico. It is an amazing story!

Little Women was my absolute favourite when a child and I read it over and over, so I think I'd like to read that for the first time again. Or would I? Have my tastes changed too much? that's an interesting question.

I don't read enough, but over Christmas break I was sick and was happy to rest and read all four Twilight books in less than 2 weeks! It's been a while since I read it, but I really liked The Time Travelers Wife. I see the movie is coming out this summer.

I get so excited when I see personal book reading lists and think "oh, I can do that", but never do. My only reading is blogs and the newspaper...other than that I just keep on the go.
