Booking Through Thursday

I wanted to get back into this meme last Thursday but I just didn't get around to it. So today I'll be doing today's question and last weeks question. Mainly because I really liked it and it was quick answers!
For this week the question is:
What’s the funniest book you’ve read recently?
The book I'm reading right now, Igraine The Brave, is funny but I don't think it's the funniest book I've read. There is one book (series) that sticks out in my mind but I didn't read it recently. The books by Sophie Kinsella are just great books and they really are funny! She writes the Shopaholic series and I've almost read them all. But the first book I read of hers was/is my favorite of hers. It's called The Undomestic Goddess.

Now on to last weeks question. Or I guess I should say questions.

Which do you prefer? (Quick answers–we’ll do more detail at some later date)

Reading something frivolous? Or something serious? Frivolous
Paperbacks? Or hardcovers? Either....whatever is available
Fiction? Or Nonfiction? Fiction
Poetry? Or Prose? Poetry
Biographies? Or Autobiographies? Either
History? Or Historical Fiction? Historical Fiction
Series? Or Stand-alones? Either
Classics? Or best-sellers? Either
Lurid, fruity prose? Or straight-forward, basic prose? Straight-forward, basic prose
Plots? Or Stream-of-Consciousness? Plots
Long books? Or Short? Either
Illustrated? Or Non-illustrated? Either
Borrowed? Or Owned? Either
New? Or Used? Either

Update On Knitting

This past month I've been getting a head start on some of the presents that I have planned to make for Christmas this year. I've also had to make my own patterns for the hats and fingerless gloves as I couldn't find that right one. Not to mention that I had to teach myself how to do a thumb gusset. You know...where your thumb goes. So I now have two hat patterns, one fingerless glove pattern and now I'm working on the second fingerless glove pattern. It really has been a lot of fun! Here is one of the fingerless gloves that I finished last night:

This matches the hat that I made earlier. Here is a close up of the top of the glove.

Once I get the second pattern figured out and then knitted I'll post a picture of not only that one but of it's matching hat.

I Won The 2009 Summer Photo Contest!

I know it's been a few days and most of you already know it...but...I just have to put it on here. I WON! In fact it was the closest race that she has ever hosted! It came down to one vote. So I can't begin to thank all of you that voted for me! First place (me) had 117 votes and second place had 116 votes. She had to keep the voting open longer than planned because we were still tied at the closing time.

Just remember that there is a fall contest coming up and I'm already thinking of pictures to take to get ready for it. I just LOVE taking photos!

Unconscious Mutterings

This is my second week playing along with this meme. For those of you that may not have seen it last week it's called Unconscious Mutterings. It's all about free association.

Here is what this one is all about:"...Each week I'll post ten words to which you can respond to with the first thing that comes to mind. Rules are, there are no rules." There are no right or wrong answers. Don't limit yourself to one word responses; just say everything that pops into your head."So...let's get on with it.

Manic Monday

I've seen quite a few people join in on this "meme" so I thought I would give it a whirl.

When and with whom was your first kiss?
If I remember correctly it was at a church camp with a boy (sorry no names) from my church. It was so different then what I thought it would be.

Do you believe that everything happens for a reason?
Yes, I do believe everything happens for a reason. These are the reasons that we need to learn by.

What would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
Well done my good and faithful servant.

Don't forget to vote for my photo!

PhotoHunt - Rock(s)

This weeks theme for PhotoHunt is: Rock(s). I looked back through my photos but the ones that did have rocks in them I had previously used for other PhotoHunts or for other Photo "assignments". So I quickly grabbed my camera, which of course is sitting right next to me ready to take that next shot if it so presents itself and took a picture of my rocks that represent nearly 18 years of marriage.

Would you like to play along? Pick out your "rock(s)" picture, post it on your blog or photo site and then head on over to PhotoHunt by clicking the icon above and leave a comment!

Knitting in July

I'm having my own little Christmas in July down here in TX. I've started working on Christmas presents. Last year it was my plan to start early but I never got around to doing so. So this time I'm actually doing it. In fact I'm even finishing up some projects that were nearly finished last year. What jumped started me this year you ask? I'm teaching some knitting classes at the local Activities Center this summer and since I'm the teacher I picked out projects that would I would not only be able to teach but that when I was finished with mine it would end up being a Christmas present. See...I actually thought ahead! Here are some of the finished projects so far:

Summer 2009 Photo Contest

It's that time again! Photo contest time from Write From Karen! This photo contest theme is: THEME: SUMMER / SWIMMING / VACATION / PARK / PICNIC / OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES / BBQ / FIREWORKS / WATER SPORTS. Show us your favorite summer photograph! But wait, it doesn’t HAVE to be a summer photograph. It can something that represents summer to you in your part of the world.

I've gone over and over and over my photos and I think I've finally picked the one. It's been years since I've had a flower garden so I was thrilled to see some coming up in front of our house this summer (for those of you that don't know we recently moved). I grew up with having flowers during the summer months and have missed them so much. I've enjoyed all of these flowers so much that I took a lot of pictures of them so that I could always enjoy them once they were gone. I found out that taking pictures of flowers at night makes them look even more beautiful! For the first time I'm entering a photo not of my son (for which he was a little bit upset about) but of a summer flower. So without further ado here is my photo for the contest:

Voting begins at 5:00 p.m. U.S. central time July 18th to 11:00 a.m. U.S. central time July 22nd. I will add the link to the voting in a separate post and will have it as a sticky note at the top so that you all can come back and vote for me!
