Dare you to look at some beautiful pictures!

I was looking at some random blogs this evening and I came across one titled Antarctia. It was listed in the Blogs of Note and it is not an active blog but...WOW! If anything just look at the pictures.

Sunday Skies

It's a beautiful day here. Right now it's almost 3 in the afternoon and it is 86 degrees (F). Sam is outside playing and have a lazy afternoon. I might just go join him.

Air Show

Well as promised I'm finally getting around to posting about the air show that we went to last Sunday. This has been a dream for me to be able to go to one and it finally came true for me! Not to mention for my son also! All three of us had a wonderful time while we were there. We rode a shuttle from the local mall to the base as it was less hassle than taking our car. We were the second shuttle to arrive and we were able to get primo seats right in front of the barrier and also right in front of the Thunderbirds! We stayed all day and saw pretty much everything there. Instead of listing all of the static displays go here to see the list and also links to each individual plane. To see a list of all the performances that we watched go here. I would also highly recommend you going to the Thunderbirds site and watch some of the video they have there as it will give you more of an idea of what we watched.

Now here are just a handful of the pictures that I took. I was amazed at how well some of these came out as our digital camera is now 6 years old. Not to mention how fast these planes were flying! As usual you may click on the pictures to get the bigger view.

Okay...I really can't wait for Order of the Phoenix to come out! Here is the most current trailer if you haven't already seen it. Before playing it here on my blog just pause my music player at the bottom of the page.

Friday's Feast is Served!

Appetizer: How fast can you type?
I can type around 90+ wpm. At least that was the last time I had it tested and it's been awhile.

Soup: What is your favorite online game?
I really don't have one as I don't do much online gaming. I do like doing puzzles and word searches online though...does that count?

Salad: On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 as highest), how intelligent do you think you are?
I guess it really depends on the subject at hand. SO...I guess I would score myself around 6-8. This is really a hard question for me as with some subjects I'm really good at and others I stink.

Main Course: Name three of your best teachers from your school years.
First of all I would have to say it would be my parents...but if I had to pick just teachers (and I'm assuming that this is applying to just K-12th grade) my top three would be my band and choir teachers from high school (Mr. Cochran and Mrs. Lerner-Sexton), my 7th grade science teacher (I can't remember his name but he sure did make learning science fun and probably why I like most sciences) and my 6th grade teacher (I don't remember her full name as we all called her Ms. B).

Dessert: What are your plans for this upcoming weekend?
Not much. Sam has a soccer game on Saturday and that's about it.

Sam's Find

Yesterday afternoon while I was fixing dinner Sam came running into the house yelling, "Come see what I caught". To my surprise Sam caught a beautiful moth. After researching it last night I found out that it is a Polyphemus moth. This is a giant silk moth and it gets its name from the large eye spots on its hind wings, referring to Polyphemus, the Cyclops of Greek mythology, who captured (and was eventually blinded by) Odysseus in Homer's epic poem, The Odyssey.

Sam used part of a 2-liter bottle and his bike helmet to capture it. This moth had a wing span of roughly 5 inches. Sam was VERY PROUD of his find and couldn't wait to show it to everybody. So this was the best way for everyone to see it. Remember that you can click on the pictures to see them bigger.

Here is Sam proudly showing me his find.

We are now outside (after admiring it for some time inside) getting ready to release it. As you can see with it's wings out it couldn't even fit inside the 2-liter! What a beautiful creature!

It sat on the ground for quite a while before it finally flew off.

Contest

I want to take a moment of your time to tell you all about a contest that I stumbled upon. While looking at all of the Friday Feasts out there I ran across this contest on Christina's Shoebox and wanted to share it with you. Take a minute to check out the 5 Minutes For Mom blog. They are giving away a nifty Philips digital photo frame!

Friday Feast

Appetizer
What is your favorite kind of bread?

Any bread that is homemade would probably be my favorite. I do have a soft spot for banana nut bread.

Soup
When was the last time you bought a new pillow?

I really don't remember the last time I purchased a new pillow. Sad I know.

Salad
Approximately how many hours per week do you spend surfing the ‘net?

Oh gee....do I really have to answer that one? It really does vary week to week but it still is probably too many.

Main Course
What’s the highest you remember your temperature being?

It was in the 104 region and I remember that my parents had to come and get me and I ended up having strep throat. I think that I was at some church district event but I'm not sure. The main thing I remember is that my throat hurt terribly and I was so hot.

Dessert
Fill in the blanks: When I ____________, I _____________.
When I am with my son I can't believe how blessed I am to have him in our lives.

Friday's Feast is Served!

Appetizer: When you were a child, which crayon color was your favorite?
Cornflower Blue. I always drew with that color as much as I could.

Soup: On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest), how likely would you be to change jobs if it required you to move?
Well since I am currently not working and have recently quit my job, moved with my husband and child so that my husband could take on a new job I don't think that I'll be quitting anytime soon. :) hehehe

Salad: Take all the numbers in your birthday and your phone number and add them up, one by one. What’s the total?
85 is my total.

Main Course: Have you ever “re-gifted” anything? If so, what was it and who did you pass it on to?
Yes, but for the life of me all I remember about it is that I got it as a white elephant at a Christmas party and gave it the next year at the next white elephant Christmas party.

Dessert: Name something you need from the store.
Well I guess there are a lot of things that I would "want" from the store but as far as "need"...I can't think of anything.

Travelling Scarf

I am currently participating in a Travelling Scarf KAL (Knit-A-Long). In one of the Yahoo Groups that I am a member of we all started talking about having a scarf that everyone had knitted on and this idea came into being. We started this scarf at the beginning of April. We are knitting 5 1/4" on each scarf and then send it on its merry way and await the next one to arrive. By the end we will all have a very unique scarf that will have a very sentimental meaning to all of us. Here is a picture of my own scarf that I started while at my parents house on Sam's spring break. I took it on my mom's dining table with her Easter decorations. Did this as a reminder of when it all started. The first picture is of the front and the second one is of the back.

Highlights of our Spring Break Trip

Last week I took Sam back up to Springfield, MO, for his Spring Break. We had a wonderful time! We left here on Saturday morning and drove most of the day through a torrential downpour but made it there safe and sound. On our way up we listened to a book on tape. Sam just loves doing this! Which is fine by me because it keeps him occupied and we both get to listen to a story. We listened to book 2 of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Of course I can't wait for book 7 and the 5th movie both being released this summer!

On Sunday we went back to our old church and saw many of our friends. Monday we went to the zoo and had a great day there. We also saw the destruction that happened there when the ice storm hit. You can see it all through town as you drive through but you can really see it when you are at the zoo. You can now see through the different sections of the park that were previously blocked by trees. We all counted the rings of one of the tree stumps that we walked by. It was 40+ years old. It will take quite a while for Springfield to look the same again.

Tuesday my mom took me to go see the movie Because I Said So. My mom and I loved this movie and I had a wonderful time going with her to see it.

Wednesday I got to spend 3+ hours getting my hair done!!! It was a wonderful time and I was spoiled while I was there. Then Sam and I got to go attend the Wednesday afternoon/evening activities at our old church.

Thursday we all spent the day down at Silver Dollar City. It was the first day for their World-Fest Celebration. We got to see the Zunyi Acrobats of China and they were amazing. In fact Sam is still talking about it.

Friday I took Sam to go see the movie Meet The Robinsons.
It is a great movie! I can't wait to see this one again and will probably purchase the DVD once it is released.

Saturday we dyed Easter Eggs and visited with some more family members.

Sunday was Easter. The Easter Bunny visited Sam, we went to church, came home and had a delicious meal with family and friends. Then Sam and his cousins all took turns hiding the plastic eggs out in my parents yard and had fun finding all 39 of them.

Monday we drove back home. It was a great drive with no weather concerns to deal with. We listened to more books on tape.
This time it was some of the Magic Tree House books. Sam loves these books and I hope to one day have the whole set. So far we don't own a single one but it is something I have planned for in the future.

Sam All Dressed Up For Easter

You'll have to turn off my music if you want to hear the music that goes with this Smilebox. Go to the end of my page and hit pause or you can turn it all the way down. Enjoy! (I don't know why it keeps leaving all this extra space. I've tried fixing it several times.)

Sunday Skies

On a glorious Easter evening I snapped these pictures looking above my parents house.

I'll update more about Easter and our Spring Break in general once I get back home. Sam and I had a wonderful trip here at my parents but we are ready to go back home. I'll be packing us up soon and getting the car ready for us to head out tomorrow morning.

Pictures

Here is Sam riding the old red wagon. He went up and down my parents driveway over and over and over again most of this week along with riding his bike. Just didn't get any pictures of him on the bike.

Here are some pictures from our trip to the Dickerson Park Zoo.

Here are some pictures from our trip to Silver Dollar City.

Come and Get It!

Appetizer: When you travel, which mode of transportation do you prefer?
I would prefer taking a plane but that is not always feasible so I would probably choose driving as my second choice.

Soup: Have you ever met a blogging friend in person?
Not really. The only bloggers that I have met are ones that I have already known. I would however love to meet some of them.

Salad: When was the last time you were really, really tired?
Now. I am on vacation and for the past two nights I really haven't slept. Before this I would have to say this past Christmas when my son was sick with a high fever and an awful cough that kept us all up all night long.

Main Course: If you could have dinner with any one fictional character from a book or movie, who would it be?
There are too many to choose from. I love movies and books and try to read and see movies as much as I can. I don't think I can narrow this one down at all. I guess it would have to be whatever I am currently reading or what I have just viewed. Sooo that would be Diane Keaton (movie) and Eragon (book).

Dessert: Fill in the blank: One day, I hope to see _______________. The world. I just love to travel and want to see it all.

100 Miles by July 1st

I'm off again. I know that I said that I might take a break this week in my walking but once I was here my Mom stated that she wanted to walk every day. So we started off today by doing a short walk but a nice one at that. We walked 2 miles today. I've changed my ticker above and hope to add to it this whole week.

Big thanks to SIL for coming up with this logo!!! If you are interested in joining us go to this site to see where it all started. You don't need to sign up there if you don't want to. Just get out there and MOVE!

Sunday Skies

Don't adjust your screen for this first picture as I just aimed up at the sky and snapped a beautiful blue sky. How gorgeous it is here today. It is in the low 70s with a nice breeze.

Sam and I are in Missouri visiting my parents this week. We got in yesterday afternoon and will be here until April 9th. So far we are having a wonderful time and I'm looking forward to a fun filled week. Andy (hubby) had to stay home and work this week and we do miss him. I'll post as much as I can this week. Brought camera with me so you may see more pictures than actual words. But you never know!
