Update on Sam

As promised here is a quick update on my boy.  He is a true trooper.  His surgery went great and his recovery is going fantastic.  He's actually staying calm and I've only had to remind him a few times to calm down.  He has spent most of the time playing video games or building quietly with his Legos.  Today was the first day that he didn't ask for a pain pill until the middle of the afternoon.  He's still taking one at night because turning over and tossing and turning in bed is still uncomfortable.  He's sleeping through the night and rarely complains about it.  I'm thrilled about how well he's doing.  Tomorrow we are thinking of taking him to go see a movie (cheap theater only $1.75) and possibly next week taking him to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center.  Don't know what Fossil Rim is?  Check out this video:

How To Make A Few Extra Bucks

Are you on twitter?? I'm loving twitter even though I'm still learning all of the ins and outs of tweeting. I follow bloggers mainly but also follow businesses as they often post specials! Sometimes I tweet out a question and get some great feedback. Now I'm getting paid to tweet! How cool is that! I'm not getting rich by any means but every little bit helps and I'm close to earning $50!! All I did was sign up with Sponsored Tweets. I get an e-mail every now and then about an opportunity and then I tweet it out through the Sponsored Tweets site. It's so simple because all you do is copy and paste the instructions and click 'tweet this'. Learn more by click on the button below.

My other favorite simple 'make money' site is SWAGBUCKS! Basically I do my searches (like Google) from there and I earn swagbucks which I can then turn into giftcards or other wonderful items! There are other ways to earn swagbucks on the site too. Go on and click the button below to check them out! You really have nothing to lose!

Shutterfly Review and Giveaway

Since right before Christmas last year I have made two Photo Books for gifts. Both companies that I used produced a fantastic product. One of these companies is Shutterfly and I honestly have to say that I like them better! Mainly for their ease of use on their site along with the communication that they give after you have placed your order. Not to mention that they have fast shipping! I couldn't believe how fast it was compared to the "other" company. I have used Shutterfly before but went away from them but will now be back for all of my photo needs. I can't begin to praise them enough because my expierences have been so positive! They have so many products out there for you for your photos. I know that for my next few orders I will be getting Holiday Cards, Christmas Photo Cards and Thank You Cards just to name a few.  It's never to early to get some of those Christmas cards and Thank you cards are always very nice to have around the house as well.  I might even get some more photo books.  Not sure about their products?  Just check out the photo book that I made recently.  That's another cool feature.  I can embed my photo book here for you all to see.

Would you  like a chance to win some FREE stationery cards? Just leave me a comment about what type of stationery cards you would like. I'll pull some winners on August 12th.

My Time Out!

Last Saturday Andy and I had a date.  It was a very well planned date as we had just finished with My Fair Lady the weekend before, we had my in-laws in town and Sam had surgery this week (more on that later).  So Saturday evening was looking like the perfect time for us to enjoy a time out.  Thanks to Chevy and the Gotta Love Chevy Moms Time Out promotion we enjoyed a fantastic evening out.  Nothing fancy but enjoyable all the same.  Dinner, movie and dessert!  Xheck it out!

Wordless Wednesday & Wordful Wednesday ~ Sam Takes My Picture

This is a picture that Sam took of me a couple of weeks ago.  It was at the local ABC station before I and two other wonderful ladies went on air to talk about the Chevy Malibu and the Gotta Love Chevy Moms Time Out program that I am a part of.  I, like most, don't like to have my picture taken but I have to say that he did a pretty good job taking this one.  Speaking of Sam...for those of you that have been following along Sam did great with his surgery today (Tuesday) and everything is now in place.  For those of you that don't know about it you can read about it here and here.  He's resting and now we have to restrict his activity for 2 weeks!  YIKES!

If you would like to see more Wordless photos head on over to Wordless Wednesday5 Minutes for MomLive and Love...Out Loud, and J. Leigh Designz.  Now if you're like me and sometimes you can't stay wordless head on over to see some Wordful Wednesday photos at Seven Clown Circus.

I would love to come and visit your Wordless Wednesday photos so please leave me your link and I'll come on over.

Shutter Love Tuesdays ~ Sports

ShutterLoveTuesdays

It's Shutter Love Tuesday over at Trendy Treehouse and this weeks theme is Sports.  Here is a picture that I took at our last trip to the Ballpark at Arlington to see the Texas Rangers play.  It's not the best picture but it represents a special day in our families lives.  It was Sam's 10th Gotcha Day.  Gotcha Day is the day that Sam came to be in our family.  We celebrate it every year with a special outing or trip.  This year we went to the Texas Rangers game and we sat on the 6th row just past 3rd base.  Fantastic seats and a wonderful game with the Rangers winning.

Sam's Surgery

My sweet, sweet son will be having surgery this week.  I know that everything will be just fine but there is something about your child going  in to surgery.  He's had surgery before but that was when he was an infant and he didn't know what was going on.  NOW?  Now he knows what's going to be going on and I really think that makes it harder for a parent.  You want to be honest with your child and let them know that, yes, it is going to hurt when you're out but everything will be okay.  We'll be there for them and will hold their hand through it all.  His surgery is on Tuesday and we'll find out the time of his surgery tomorrow after noon when we call in.  I'll keep everyone updated as we know more.

So to my family, extended family, friends and followers please say a little prayer.

Looking at the Sky on Friday

Here is a picture of the clouds out the car window (for once I wasn't driving while taking the picture) on our way to Alumni Band at Central Methodist University.  To see more sky photos just click on the button above.

Sam Tells Us How It Is

Last Saturday Sam and I were doing two shows of My Fair Lady and in-between the two shows they were providing us with lunch.  Unfortunately what they were having Sam was not interested in eating so we had to go somewhere quickly to eat.  The temperature was in the 100s here and I wasn't looking forward to going out into the heat of the day.  Then I remembered that we had the remote start with the Chevy Malibu so I started it and let it cool off a bit before heading out.  I just love Sam in this video and I honestly couldn't wait to share it!  I didn't prompt him one bit.  He asked for the camera and I honestly had no idea what was going to come out of his mouth.  This was his first and only take and he did a fantastic job with it.  Please thinking of him (and us) as he has surgery next Tuesday.

  6. XM Radio
  7. Onstar
  8. Bluetooh for hands free calling

Chevy Mom's Time Out Mission #1 ~ Grocery Shopping

You read earlier in a previous post that I got my Chevy Malibu to test drive for the next few weeks.  Our first mission is to take the car grocery shopping.  Now this is not a task that I really enjoy doing but I have to say that the Chevy Malibu made it a much better task.  I say task because sometimes it is a task to go grocery shopping for a family of three.  Some people think it would be easy to do since we are not a big family.  But it's not when my husband is diabetic, my husband and I are trying to lose weight and be healthier and my son Sam doesn't eat much at all due to his meds for ADHD (they have appetite suppressants in them) and he's a picky eater so I try to get any calorie down him that I can.

So you may be asking how driving the Chevy Malibu makes this task better.
  1. First and foremost this car has a remote start.  It's hot here in TX and the day I went it was already in the 100s and usually that makes me want to put of grocery shopping even more.  But I could start the car before I ever walked out of my house and it was nice and cool when I got in it.    When I was done shopping I started the car on my way back out to the car.  Once I got all of the groceries into the car it was nice and cool!  One can get used to this.
  2. XM Radio let's me listen to ANY type of music that I care to listen to and it was nice to listen to more music than commercials!
  3. The trunk is VERY roomy!  But this time around I didn't use the trunk to it's full potential.  Why? Watch the video to find out.

Don't forget to head to your local Chevy dealer here in North Texas and test drive a Chevy Malibu and you will receive a certificate for an hour long massage from Massage Envy!  You can check it out here:

Wordless Wednesday & Wordful Wednesday ~ My Fair Lady

Performance weekend finally came and went for My Fair Lady.  Sam and I had a ton of fun and are kind of sad that it has ended.  So while we sing the songs again and again in our heads you can see some pictures of us and some of the cast.  Yes, there was a real monkey in Act I, Scene I, and he (Mikey) was the sweetest monkey!  Make sure you click on the pictures to see them full size.  We can't wait for the next one!

Shutter Love Tuesdays ~ Faces

ShutterLoveTuesdays

It's Shutter Love Tuesday over at Trendy Treehouse and this weeks theme is Faces.  My son is also going to enter a photo this week.  Mine is the one of the three babies.  I took this when I worked in a daycare/preschool and these three woke up from their naps before the rest of the babies did and they look so beautiful that I just had to take their picture.

My sons photo is a self portrait that he took out in the backyard about a month ago.  His photography has really started to blossom lately and I can't wait to feature more of his work.

If you would like to see more wonderful pictures of faces just click on the button above.  What's your favorite face feature?  Me?  The eyes!

Gotta Love Chevy Moms Time Out DFW ~ Whew That's A Mouth Full!

As you have heard I am participating in a fantastic program that is put on by Chevy over this next month.  It's called Gotta Love Chevy Moms Time Out.  I have already picked up my new 2010 Chevy Malibu and I have got to say that the people over at Moritz Chevrolet in Ft Worth were friendly and so helpful and not only went over every feature that the Chevy Malibu has but they answered all the questions that I had.  A big thanks goes out to Gabe over at Moritz Chevrolet! You know there is something about driving a car off of the car lot that only has 10 miles on it!

While I am test driving the car for this month we (The Gotta Love Chevy Mom Squad) will be sent out on missions.  And by the we I am referring to Crystal over at Crystal & Co and Connie over at Smockity Frocks.  We are the three very lucky moms/women that were picked to do this. I can't tell you how lucky I feel!
So that we don't miss a moment of using the Malibu, Chevy sent me a cool new toy.  It's the Flip Video Camera and believe me it is a cool toy and has already gotten a ton of use.  So I will now be vlogging about our expierences with the car and you can subscribe to the updates here!
Now the first video that they wanted us all to make is one introducing ourselves and our families.  Here it is!

Kim's Introduction Bio from Kim Morrow on Vimeo.

Now...If you live in the North Texas, make sure you tune in to Good Morning Texas (WFAA) tomorrow morning (Tuesday, July 20th, The show runs from 9:00a-10:00a.) The  will be on the show.  As soon as we get a copy of the video I'll post it here.  Can you believe this?  I think I need to pinch myself!

Still In Awe

Okay...I've run a few days behind here.  I have posted every day this year until this week. ACK!  But I have two very good excuses!  First and foremost I went last Wednesday to pick up my new Chevy Malibu that I will be test driving for the next month.  It is sooooo nice!  Stop by here later this afternoon or this evening to hear more about it all!  Here take a look and remember to click on the pictures to see them full size:

See what I mean?  There will be more of that coming up soon.  Second, Sam and I were in the musical
"My Fair Lady" with the Mansfield Community Theatre.  We had tech week last week, dress rehearsal last Thursday and then four shows starting Friday evening.  It was a wonderful cast, orchestra and crew and the show itself was fantastic.  I'm still working on editing my photos of the cast and will do a post about it soon.

This weeks theme for the Shutter Love Tuedays at Trendy Treehouse is "By the Pool".  As soon as I saw this theme I knew exactly which photo I would enter.  I've had it here on the blog before but I just love this photo.  This is a picture of Sam rising up out of the water a few summers ago after we got a pool and he was just so happy!  Check out more entries by going to TrendyTreehouse by clicking the button above.  What is your favorite By the Pool activity?

I Still Can't Believe It

I have been wanting to tell you about something for awhile now but haven't been able to until it was all official.  Are you ready for it?

I will be taking part in a fantastic blogging experience with Chevy!  I'll be given a new Chevy Malibu to test drive for a month.  During that month I'll be sent out on "mommy missions" ~ You know thing that an average mom or family might do.  I'll not only be doing my regular blogging about my experiences but I'll also be vlogging about them!

I will be picking up my new Chevy Malibu sometime next week.  I'm really wondering which color and style I'll get.  Once I pick it up I'll share even more with you!
See I told you it was BIG news!

10th Gotcha Day

Spent a wonderful day with our son celebrating "Gotcha Day".  Ten years ago today is when we got our son to bring him home.  We celebrate this day as a family and always do something special.  It is our birthday with him.  We spent the afternoon and evening at the Texas Rangers baseball game and autograph session.  We had a ton of fun and I'll post pictures and possibly a video from tonight later tomorrow or Friday.  HAPPY 10th GOTCHA DAY SAM!  Here's a photo that I have posted on here before but I'm doing it again...this is the first time I ever met our son.

Oh...and I might have an announcement on one of those days too.  If you follow me on Facebook you may remember me stating that I had a big phone call a week ago.  It's now time to reveal it!

Wordful Wednesday & Wordless Wednesday - Longhorn

Two summers ago my friend Rachel and I took our boys to downtown Ft Worth, to see the Longhorns.  We missed seeing the cattle drive that they do but we did get to meet some of the longhorns and had a great lunch.  I'm hoping to head back down there this summer.

Happy 4th?

I'd love to be able to share with you that we had a fantastic 4th of July.  Well most of it was really good.  Had a great church service today.  Andy played in a brass ensemble that was just awesome!  If you'd like to hear them (which you should) you can see the service archived on our church website here.  We had a great dinner out today too.  The not so good part of our day was spent with me at the doc in the box.  You see last night (which was a GREAT evening with some girlfriends) I fell getting into my friends car and I watched my thumb go backwards.  By this morning my left thumb was so sore and swollen I couldn't move it.  Now?  My thumb has a hairline fracture and is in a brace/splint contraption. I've had a shot for the pain and have meds to take at home.  Happy 4th to me!  Since I didn't get to take any pictures of the 4th of July today I thought I would share a funny one of a clown that I took at last years 4th of July parade. Read her sign closely!  I really do hope that all of you have had a fantastic 4th today!

Looking At The Sky On Friday & New Friend Fridays

Sam and my dad went with Sam's Scout Pack last weekend to tour and spend the night on the USS Lexington.  They had a great time and Sam can't wait to go back.  I'm so glad that they went last weekend as Hurricane Alex is dumping rain there this weekend along with duping it here.  I'll have to post more pictures of their trip later but I wanted to get these up for Looking At The Sky On Friday.  Dad...you did a great job with taking pictures for me.   If you are here from Trendy Treehouse or Looking At The Sky On Friday...WELCOME!  Please have a look around, leave me a comment and let me know that you were here today.

No Toy Gets Left Behind

Sam wanted to take Andy out to see Toy Story 3 for Father's Day but we just couldn't get there until today.  I have to tell you that if you haven't seen it...GO!  Oh and you'll need tissues, I personally cried about 3 different times.  Having a boy that loves toys makes this movie really hit home especially knowing that he'll be heading off to college in just a short 8 years!  YIKES!  Where had the time gone already?

Sam watches the Disney Channel and I watch it along with him so I've seen quite a few behind the scenes about this new movie and after watching them I thought I knew the gist of this movie but honestly...I had no idea.  There is so much more to this movie!  I thought that the new characters weren't going to hold up to the old ones.  I was wrong.  This movie is for the young and the young at heart.  Don't wait to go see this one!  I'm glad that we didn't wait.
