Wordless and Wordful Wednesday ~ Flag Football

Sam is playing Flag Football with Upwards again this year.  This year will be his last year to play with this organization and I'll be sad to see this season to come to an end.  We were blessed to have the coaches from last year (which were the BEST) as his coaches this year.  Last Saturday was their first game...and they won!  Sam is wearing number 88 (in the white jersey) and he is sooooo much better this year!  Last year started off really rough because he would drop the ball a lot and his throws wouldn't hit their target and he was really discouraged.  This year?  He is catching and throwing like last year never happened.  Here in this picture Sam was passed the ball, he caught it ans was running for a first down.  Sorry the photo is a little blurry but I was so excited I was cheering at the same time I was taking the picture.

Flag Football

Sam has had a wonderful season with his Upwards Flag Football team.  In fact they only have one more game to play.  It's a make-up game and they get to play under the lights again on Tuesday evening.  His team is still undefeated with three of those games being shut-outs!  This past Saturday Sam was thrilled to look over at the side-lines where we were sitting to see his Aunt as well as two of our friends that are just like aunts to him.  It was a wonderful time and they won 46-6!  Here he is with his "aunts".  I can't wait till Tuesday!  And, yes, I'll have my camera with me one more time.

Sam and His Catch

Here is a very short video of one of Sam's catches at last nights game. He's still beaming! Sorry about me screaming loudly in the video. You could say that I was getting into the game.

Wordless and Wordful Wednesday ~ Proud Mom

Okay...can't stay worldless this week either...as most of you know my son, Sam, is playing flag football this year and if you follow me on Facebook you know that they are doing AWESOME!  Tonight they had a night game as it was a make-up for a missed game earlier in the season due to rain.  They are now 5-0!  They have had 3 of their 5 games be shut-outs.  Tonight was the best game ever!  Why you ask?  Sam caught a pass (he's had a hard time of that this year) and ran it for a 2 point conversion!  He caught a few more balls as well and ran them for yardage.  You can only imagine how happy he is right now.  His coaches have been more than wonderful to him as they have worked with him one on one to get him catching the ball and tonight they all saw their hard work pay off.  Sam has always loved playing rusher and now he enjoying the other side.  I can't begin to say how proud I am of every team member on this team so I give you the team in their after game talk with their coaches as today's picture.  Oh...they won 36-6!  WAY TO GO JAGUARS!

Wordless and Wordfull Wednesday ~ Flag Football

This past Saturday was Sam's first Flag Football Game of the season.  His team this year is the Jaguars and with only 2 practices (one was cancelled due to the 9 1/2 inches of rain we got) THEY WON!  Not to mention that last Saturday the temperature here was in the low 90s with a fells like temperature of 103!  It was unbearable and they all were troopers and kept on playing.  Here are just a few pictures as I didn't take many.  It was just to hot and my hands were too sweaty to hold the camera.  You can see the misery in Sam's face when I took the last picture of him standing next to the van waiting to get in.

PhotoHunt - Jiggly

This weeks theme over at PhotoHunt is: Jiggly. According to Merriam-Webster the word jiggle means to cause to move with quick little jerks or oscillating motions. My first thought was Jello. But I don't have any made up at the moment and I'm not going to make some to photograph right now. So I went to look at my many photos and found one of Sam playing football this last fall. You could say that there is a lot of quick little jerks or oscillating motions in football. So with that said here is the picture:

Flag Football Update

Sam's Flag Football team is still undefeated! Then again they did tie their last game so I should say that their status is: 3-0-1. This group of boys is just amazing not to mention their coaches and all of the parents. The boys not only practice hard, listen to their coaches and parents but they also have fun together. Their last practice, which was last Tuesday, was dreary. It was cloudy, windy, cooler and then it started to rain (again) towards the end of their practice. In fact it has been raining off and on most of that week. Come game time on Saturday the fields were pretty wet and their games aren't played until 11:00 in the morning. This was the game that the boys really started getting into playing the game. It was a wonderful game to watch. They are not having a game this Saturday because of a conflict up at the church where we are playing. They were going to have a game this past Tuesday evening but it rained most of the day so it was cancelled. Here are just a few pictures from some of the past games.

Here is Sam taking the flag away from the other teams Quarterback as he was doing his handoff.

The ball was being passed to Sam but the other team intercepted the ball.

The boys were pretty happy after a touchdown!

Tomorrow, or possibly later this evening, I'll be posting a photo for a photo contest. If you'd like to participate in it head on over to Write From Karen for all the details. I can't wait! I took Sam out this past Monday when they had no school and got some good pictures of him at the pumpkin patch at our church.

It's Football Time!

This year Sam has started a new sport. He's always done soccer in the fall and spring along with basketball in the winter. Sam has been begging us lately for him to do football. So this fall he is doing flag football with the Upward program. After the weeks worth of rain that we got here they were finally able to play their first game this past Saturday. Sam's team WON! He hasn't been on a winning team these past few seasons as in not winning a single game so it was so great to see his team win. Sam mainly played defense at the game but did get a chance to play offense too. Here's a picture of him going after a flag on the opposing teams player. I love the look on his face. There is such determination which he has a lot of and if he wants (after watching him at practices and this game) I can see him going a long way with football.
