100 Joys ~ 29 through 35

I'm really enjoying going through all the pictures that I have taken throughout this holiday season and reminiscing. What will be really nice is to look back on this time in a year or so and remember all the joys. Here are some more!

#29...when good friends get together to enjoy a girls night. We talked and talked and talked some more and then watched "Elf". It was a great evening and I love that we were able to get everyone to take this group photo.

# 30...watching my husband give a dear friend a goofy Christmas gift.  A pooping reindeer.  We ended up staying over at their house and loved watching all of us have a good time.  Her son and Sam talked baseball cards and all the adults had fun just chatting away.

#31...the quilt/blanket that I made for Sam for Christmas...here it is almost done.  Ready to put the front and back together.

#32...having great neighbors.  Our doorbell rang the week of Christmas and one of our neighbors was standing there with a Butterball turkey!  It was already thawed so we cooked it and shared it with some friends on Christmas Day.  YUM!

#33...Sam putting out the cookies and milk for Santa.

#34...Sam's face as he dumps his stocking.

#35...COOKIES!  Especially made from scratch Chocolate Chip Peppermint cookies.
What are some of your joys?  I'd love to hear them.  Or better yet...what cookies do you put out for Santa???

100 Joys ~ 24 through 28

Now that Christmas is over and I have time again to sit back down to the computer I'm continuing on with my 100 Joys.  I've had a lot of them and I hope that I can remember them all.

#24 is seeing Sam with one of his new friends.

#25 is seeing Sam ask to help a friend of ours cook some spaghetti noodles. I had to get a picture of it because he rarely asks to help out in the kitchen at home. But he offered to help without being told to do so.

#26 is Christmas Caroling.  What fun we had. And just so you know...it was not snowing...but I made it look like it was because it sure would have been nice to have some.

#27 is finding a new friend.

#28 is having warm days in the 80's to play baseball in the yard.  Just another reminder that we live in TX and you never know what the temperature will be the week before Christmas.

What other joys have you found this past few days?  I'll share more later...now back to editing my photos.

Gotta Love Chevy ~ Massage Envy ~ Girls Time Out

My friend Wendy and I had a fantastic day today. We went out to lunch followed by some shopping and topped off with a wonderful one hour massage at Massage Envy. It was nice afterwards to use the Remote Start and wait for the car to cool off since it's in the 100s again today. I also found a wonderful station on XM Radio...XM 72. It's the "Spa" radio station. After getting a massage this is the station to listen to on the way home.   Remember to vote for my photo!  Check out this post to do so.  Thanks!

Spring Break 2010

Spring Break has ended and school started back up again. We had a great time this past week and ended up not doing much at all, which ended up being a welcomed change. Sam and I usually go up to Springfield, MO, and spend the week with my parents but this year we opted to stay home. It worked out really well as Sam was ill starting the Tuesday evening before Spring Break was even here. He was out of school Wed, Thurs and Friday. He was sick to his stomach one day, had a fever the next and then he had a low fever and body aches on the last few days. I would say that by last Monday he was finally feeling better which was a good thing because it was officially the first day of Spring Break. I kept pleading with him so I could get out asking Sam if there was something he wanted to to do like possibly go hiking, take him to a movie, biking, park, or just plain ole get out of the house. Nope! Here is his answer, "I want to spend as much time as I can in my inner sanctum". I know, I know...HIS WHAT? But that's what he said. So that's what he did. He played games, built with his Legos, watched TV and movies that we had here at home at his Inner Sanctum, drew pictures and just plain ole rested.

Fast forward through the week...my dear friend Rachel (Go over and visit her!  I'll wait...) and her three boys came up from Houston for a visit. They moved from here this past summer and we haven't seen them since. Sam invited David, Rachel's oldest, to spend the night on Friday night while they were up here visiting and when I told them both that there was no official "bedtime" they decided that they would stay up all night long. Guess what! THEY DID! Let me tell you...we had two tired boys come the following morning. They stayed awake until almost noon on Saturday and then crashed big time out in the living room.

David all curled up on the couch and Sam all snug down in his sleeping bag where no one could see him. They slept until almost dinner time. They were still tired when they woke up but once we got dinner down them they were more human again.

Andy was so kind to watch all four boys while Rachel and I went out shopping on Saturday morning. We had fun for sure and we both came home with new purses and a stop at Starbucks! What a great morning!

Now?  ONLY 10 MORE WEEKS OF SCHOOL!

Prayer Request

My dear friend Rachel will be having surgery tomorrow morning. She is having a hysterectomy. She just wrote a wonderful letter to her uterus on her blog and I'd love it if you would head on over to her blog The Science of Music, read it, and leave her a comment. And before I forget...pray for her, her family, the doctors, the nurses and all of those that will be there for her.

What Have I Been Doing?

Boy...what a couple of weeks it has been. Sam and I have see the $1 movies every week but this past one, had friends over from the street to either play, swim or watch yet even more movies, we've gone on a couple of our "trips" and have had Vacation Bible Camp at our church this past week. WHEW! Not to mention rehearsing for Music Man. So far it's just been rehearsals on Sunday night but now that we're just a month away there will be quite a bit more. In fact this coming Monday evening we'll be running through the entire first act. It's a lot of fun!!!

Instead of writing about all of it I've done slideshows for you. I will say that the Scout Car Wash was a blast and the boys raised $420!!! I think we'll be going to the Ft. Worth Zoo this week with Rachel and her kids. Should be fun!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

I've been busy around here and haven't had much time to not only visit my favorite blogs but also update my own.

The newest news, or at least it's news to Sam, is that we got a pool! I joined Freecycle and posted on several of the local groups that I had a son that loves to swim but we didn't have a pool. I had a lady that answered me and she had one that her daughter was getting rid of and it was mine! What I love about Freecycle is that it is free to join and everything must be free that you are giving away. So I now have an above ground pool that is 3 1/2 feet tall by 14 feet across, the ladder to get in it and the filter and hoses. This type of pool runs anywhere between $200 - $300 in the stores! Andy and I spent this last Friday and Saturday setting it up and Sam was in it late Saturday afternoon. As soon as we got home from church on Sunday he was back in it. And of course he was back in it yesterday. Here are a few pictures so far:
Starting to fill up the pool. Started on Friday evening and finished Saturday afternoon.
Sam checking out the progress of the pool. The wait was about to drive him (and us) crazy!
I asked Sam if he was excited about having a pool and you tell his answer by the look on his face.
Finally in the pool and enjoying himself. I know that I cut his head off in this photo and he's not centered but I still enjoy looking at the expression on his face. Pure happiness!
So far this is my favorite picture. In fact it is now the wallpaper on my computer.

I know that I'll be spending money on the upkeep of this pool but with the cost of gas now I know that I'll be coming out ahead in my pocketbook! Instead of having to drive to a pool or water park, which we still might do, I can walk out our backdoor and have a ton of fun in our own backyard.

Yesterday was Memorial Day and we had a wonderful dinner with two great friends, Beth and Bobby. They came over mid-afternoon and we had a lot of fun playing games, watching Sam swim in his pool, enjoying a wonderful dinner and of course friendship. I actually didn't take many pictures yesterday but do have some of my table and Beth's wonderful dessert.
Centerpiece was from a luncheon that was held at our church. I wasn't the "official" winner at the table I was sitting at but no one else really wanted it. I snatched it up and now have been putting it to use.
All that is missing now is the food!

Beth's dessert was sooooo good. And, Sam took this picture! He did a great job as the pictures I took of it didn't come out very good.

We had two milestones in Sam's life these past few weeks The first one is that Sam got his first Bible. He was very excited about receiving it and loves it. Of course, I had brought my camera with me to capture the moment but then realized that I had to go ring with one of the handbell choirs and couldn't take a picture then. So, I did the next best thing. I got a picture of him and our Senior Pastor after church.

Dear Sam,

I hope that one day you will look back on the day that you received your first Bible and know what a great day it was. I hope that your love of Jesus continues to grow and grow every day. I see you growing every day in your Christianity but probably don't tell you enough, I'll try to do better as you grow. I also wish for you that your children will learn as much from you as you do from them. I learn so much every day with you in my life. I thank God every day for putting you into our lives.

Love you,
Mom

The second milestone is that Sam has officially ranked as a Wolf in Cub Scouts. He had ranked quite earlier but we had the official ranking at our last Pack meeting. He's pretty proud of it and will now be a Bear next year.

I guess that's it for the updates now. I could go on and on with other things we have done but this is getting long enough. Counting today Sam only has 7 more days of school left and I don't know if he can contain his excitement about Summer Break starting. We are on our official countdown. We have a lot planned...but that's another post.
