Browser Help

Okay...all you computer people out there...I need some advice. I'm starting to really dislike using Internet Explorer and am considering using another browser. I've done some research but I still have questions.

1. Which do you prefer, Firefox of Safari?

2. Should I consider something else that I don't know about yet?

3. If I do switch to another browser can I still use Outlook Express for my email?

4. If I end up downloading more than one browser can I switch back and forth between browsers?

Please advise.

I use Firefox. I am not familiar with Safari. Firefox is pretty awesome. ;)

I'm with Tiffany. I don't know anything about Safari, but Firefox is pretty awesome. I LOVE the spell check! :)

Yes, you can switch back and forth between browsers. Sometimes I have trouble with certain sites, like my local news site in FF and I have to go to IE 'cause it won't download a plug in needed to play the flash player for the radar. But, other than that I have no problems with FF!

1. I've used Firefox a few times and liked it. I've never used Safari. You pretty much need to choose one and try it out.

2. I've heard Google Chrome is pretty good - but I havent' used it. Opera is another one, but the few times I used it, I didn't like it much. I've heard that pretty much anything is better than IE. And more secure.

3. Yes, you can use Outlook Express. It's somewhere in the internet settings - you can set whatever default program you want for email, documents, etc. Although, I recommend ditching Outlook Express and using Outlook. Outlook has a lot more features and is very user friendly.

4. Yes, you can switch between browsers at will. Just be sure that you tell each browser to NOT check if it's the default (somewhere in the settings). Otherwise, each browser will try to get you to make it the default browser every time you start it up.

Any more questions? Feel free to ask! (says the girl who still uses IE even though she should really switch to something else since there are so many better things out there)

I switch between IE and Google Chrome. Google is really cool because you can just type in somthing you want to search for in the address bar and it will search it for you. It is pretty smart and SMARTER than IE!!

Definitely go with Firefox. You can get an add-on that allows you to switch to internet explorer view within Firefox. Here's the link:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419

I'd skip chrome and safari. A lot of websites aren't written for these so either you'll have to open up Firefox or IE anyway or you'll get garbled websites.

Let me know if you have any questions! I've been using Firefox since it came out and haven't turned back. Oh, and about email. Browsers shouldn't affect your email settings. Outlook is an entirely different program and browsers aren't considered email applications by your computer.

Good luck!

We have been using Google Chrome for awhile...really like it! I also use Google for my e-mail...but you don't need to.
