Bummed Son

As stated previously Sam had his first playoff game last night. They were in first place and very pumped up for the game.

THEY LOST.

Some of the team took it hard including Sam. He came up to me (I was the dugout Mom so I was right there) with tears in his eyes telling me that he was sad because they lost and that they wouldn't be able to play the championship game. They were a great team as they went back out and congratulated the other team on a game well played.

I am so proud of not only my son but the whole team. They played their hearts out and had fun doing it.

This season was Sam's first time at machine pitch baseball. He got hurt a couple of times including last night when he slid into home plate. By the end of this season he learned how to hit well and to field balls. He is a great player and will learn more as he continues to play the game of baseball.

What's next? Soccer season. This so far this his favorite sport and he can't wait to get started.

Aw, I'm sorry they lost. I hope the boys don't forget that they were 1st place. That is awesome!! My son is a baseball player too. Both of us have had several injuries from that ball! He just finished his 1st year of kid pitch.

Oh man! That's soo hard, I know that. Tell you, though, I seriously think that part of the game is nearly as important as anything else, no? It really is what we take with us through our lives, the ability to keep on keeping on! I'll just bet you're the best dugout mom!

Ugh - that is so tough. Mine aren't old enough for the sport thing quite yet, but that will be hard. It is good to learn to lose, though, right? Keep on trucking!

A tough life lesson to learn - but a good one. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But you play because you love the game! Always do your best, but sometimes the other team scores more runs. Give him a hug for me - it's hard when you don't win.
